Top 6 Ideas to Pick the Perfect Wedding Dress

Your wedding day is one of the most special days of your entire life. The dress that you wear needs to symbolize how important this day is. It is vital that the dress you pick brings out the best in your beauty on your special day.

Everyone wants to look their best on their Wedding Day. Taking the time to find the right dress is essential. One great aspect now you can get great wedding dresses online which allow you to instantly pick all the right features for your perfect bridal gown. Listed below are the Top 6 Items to consider when making your decision on the right wedding dress for you.

Top 6 Decisions on Selecting the Perfect Wedding Dress

Picking the Right Color:

The color you pick is based on the color of your own skin; dark-skinned brunettes look best in ivory or beige wedding dresses, and light-skinned blondes look their best in a white pastel or pure white dress.

Chose the Right Length:

The type of wedding event you're putting on will affect your bridal gown's length. Full-length dresses are designed for formal weddings. At more informal weddings, which are normally smaller in size and production (most on second and greater weddings) the bride can look good in a knee-length gown/skirt. The skirt should cover the knees and drape at least one inch below the top of the kneecap. Ankle-length bridal gown is acceptable too, and it can be very classy, sexy, fashionable, and romantic.

What is the Right Silhouette:

The "silhouette" is known as the shape of the gown and how it fits your body. Common styles include the Princess and A-line, ball gown (mostly commonly called the Cinderella gown), sheaths, a mermaid shape, an empire silhouette, or a two-piece.

How Long Should the Train be:

The best trains are typically long ones, that can be detachable so that it won't get stepped on, ripped, or otherwise ruined during the reception.

Picking the Perfect Mood:

The mood of your bridal gown can be Romantic, Modern, Traditional, or Classic.

Get the Right Size:

Just like with other clothing options, when it comes to choosing a wedding gown, size is important. For brides petite to large, the size of a wedding dress is ordered based on measurements of bust, waist, hips and height. The right size makes every person feel beautiful on their special day.

A Modest Wedding Dress Is Best

For many brides the strapless style is out and so is the plunging neckline. Currently the modest wedding dress, has made a resurgence again. And even when they're not "fashionable", a modest temple dress have always been popular among faith communities of all types and denominations. "They're very classic styles and very dignified styles," said Scott Wells. "They've become popular with our other brides as well."

Wells owns an online Store, along with his partners Jill Aldineh and Al Short. Recently they have received many inquiries about dresses that met LDS temple specifications. This is not a Church run business, but the partners have initiated a temple-ready line of bridal gowns to care for these brides.

Because of the quality and elegance of the styles the temple-ready line is also popular among the non-LDS community also. "Our core market for that line is the LDS bride, but surprisingly those aisles are quite popular in other segments of the population as well," said Wells. "For a bride who just wants a modest look, they've been very popular."

LDS businesses like eternity gowns sell upwards of 65 percent of their dresses to the non-LDS community. Muslims, Jews, and Baptists are among those who buy from the modest line. "It just makes logical sense that if you're growing as a religious company you don't limit yourself to one religion," said James Walker, owner of another online shop.

Religious views are not the only reasons why many brides to be buy modest wedding dresses. Generally speaking fashion is moving in a more modest direction. This trend supports the belief that fashion is cyclical, and that the current cycle is pointing to more modest-style gowns. "We've gone through a period of time during the last ten years or so that strapless gowns have been in fashion," said Walker, "but if we look at the runway of what's coming . . . modest gowns are becoming more mainstream." The new styles in wedding dresses include sleeves, higher necklines, more neck details, simple embellishments, and more attention on the bodice. This is good news for companies who already carry modest wedding dresses. Even though the stores already feature necklines and sleeves, which gives them a wider audience, people buy wedding dresses because they are beautiful, and modest dresses appeal to the taste of many women.

"They're not looking for that exact specification, but they look at it and think 'that's a beautiful gown,'" said Wells. "They don't know where it really came from, but they just see it as a beautiful gown and go with it."

Although their goal is to produce modest dresses, stores focus on creating beautiful dresses that many women will enjoy. "If we can get to the point where people buy our gowns just because they're beautiful dresses, then we will feel that we have succeeded in our business," said Walker.

So is modesty back in style? It looks like it's on its way. And whether it is or not, the modest wedding dress will always be appealing for their classic and simple beauty.

"It's the classic styles that really stick around," said Wells.

Does Birth Control Pills Cause Acne

Causes of Acne

The following are the lead causes of pimples and acne:

Puberty and related changes (activation of sebaceous glands or the oil glands) Hormonal imbalance Dirt Skin types (oily skin is more prone to acne) Highly stressful lifestyle Vitamin and mineral deficiency Rare cases of heredity Cosmetics

Link between Birth Control Pills and Acne Demystified

Birth control pills are effective for acne treatment only in the cases where the main cause for acne is hormone related. Sometimes, an excess secretion of androgen from the ovaries is the leading cause of stubborn pimples and acne. Androgen has the property of activating the oil glands that leads to and increased occurrence of acne. Certain combination of birth control pills help by suppressing the level of androgen in the body. Testosterone (male hormone) is also associated with the increase in the activity of oil glands, thereby promoting acne. Oral contraceptives, especially those containing Estrogen and Progestin, reduce Testosterone in the body. Not all types of oral contraceptives are flatly effective on everyone. You need to decide upon the right combination suitable to your physiology. Of course, this has to be done under the guidance of a medical practitioner. In addition, other acne specific drugs, including antibiotics should be used as supplements to enhance the efficacy of the medication, for instance, benzoyl peroxide, alpha hydroxyl acids, and retinoids.

Preferred Combination and Commercially Available Products

Medicinal formulations containing the hormones Estrogen and Progestin (synthetically manufactured Progesterone) are usually beneficial in the therapy. Estrogen helps in maintaining the hormonal balance and regulates the level of Testosterone. Progestin is added to prevent any side effects caused by excess Estrogen. Lower Estrogen drugs such as Alesse should be preferred, as they do not have lesser repercussions related to the hormone. Ensure that the progestins in the medicine are anti-androgenic and not androgenic. Some of the commonly available brands are:

YAZ Ortho Tri-Cyclen Estrostep Yasmin

Birth Control Pills: Last Resort!

Oral contraceptives are resorted to only after exhausting all the other options, due to the reactions of hormone replacement therapy. If you do not intent to go in for contraception, use of birth control pills for acne treatment is a bad choice. The known side effects of oral contraceptive pills are:

Nausea Irregular menstrual cycles Cyst in the bust area Tendering of breasts Heart ailments Clotting of blood Cancer

While taking the risk of above side effects, you should be aware of the fact that oral contraceptive pills do not necessarily treat acne. Therefore, exercise a lot of prudence in adopting birth control pills for acne cure and try to keep it as last choice, rather than a preferred option.

Treating Uterine Fibroids

Fibroid are cellular growths on the wall of the uterus. They are almost always non-cancerous and are very common. The majority of women will get some form of fibroid during their lives and most of them will have no problems as a result. Some fibroid are tiny and cause no trouble. Some, however, grow to be very large and cause a lot of problems.

Causes of fibroid

The precise cause of fibroid is unknown, although there are many theories. What is known is that both estrogen and progesterone must be present in order for fibroid to grow. Once a woman reaches menopause, fibroid will no longer be able to grow and cause problems.

Symptoms of fibroid

Many women never have any of the symptoms of fibroid. The ones who do experience symptoms often have large fibroid. Some of the most commonly experienced symptoms are heavy menstrual bleeding, painful stomach, uterine, and back cramps, urinary difficulties, and bladder pressure. Anemia is very often a result of the heavy menstrual periods caused by some fibroid.

Women who do experience symptoms need to seek medical treatment, especially those who experience heavy bleeding during their menstrual cycles. Anemia occurs rapidly with the loss of large amounts of blood and must be treated. Occasionally, fibroid will grow so large that they block the ureters, which are tubes that transport urine to the bladder.

Treatments for fibroid

Many options are available for the treatment of uterine fibroid. For many women, treatment is not even necessary. Once fibroid are discovered, the physician will just keep a check on them to make sure they don?t start causing problems. If women are near menopause and aren?t having problems, the fibroid will often shrink once menopause starts.

For women with large fibroid that are causing problems, surgery might be the only possible solution. If fibroid block the ureters, interfere with blood circulation, or cause severe anemia, it might be best to remove them. Fibroid can be removed by using a surgical procedure called a myomectomy. This procedure removes only the fibroid and does not involve taking the uterus or the ovaries. Hysterectomies are frequently performed on women who have major problems with their fibroid. These surgical procedures do involve removal of the uterus and, very often, the ovaries as well.

Medications

There are some medications that physicians prescribe to treat the symptoms of fibroid tumors or to temporarily decrease their size. Sometimes, women who are near menopause will take medications that decrease the tumor size long enough for them to actually reach menopause. This is done because fibroid will usually cause no problems once a woman?s menopausal stage is reached. This buys them time in order to avoid having surgery.

If you are one of the many women who have fibroid tumors, be sure to see your physician regularly to ensure that the tumors are not growing at a fast pace. If you are one of the less fortunate who have large fibroid that are causing you problems, then a consultation with your physician should be scheduled to determine the best course of treatment for you.

It’s a Resolution to Anti-aging

Five, four, three, two, one. Happy New Year! Whether you were dancing in the streets at midnight or sleeping beneath the sheets long before the ball dropped, the world rang in 2007, which means you will celebrate another birthday before 2008's big bash. However, while "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve" countdown and the counting of candles on your birthday cake may be unavoidable year after year, the way you age is certainly in your control.

Aging gracefully and comfortably (without the aches and pains of arthritis and osteoporosis) can be as simple as choosing the right foods in your diet, as well as exercising regularly. Because even more than preventing wrinkles, anti-aging also means preventing memory loss, heart disease, cancer, and osteoporosis. For this reason, the anti-aging diet is receiving much attention and can certainly complement your everyday life.

The anti-aging diet is a combination of both nutrition and lifestyle factors. Not only is it important to pile your plate with healthy choices from the food pyramid, it is doubly important to keep your body fine-tuned by exercising, avoiding UV light and cigarettes, and even doing crossword puzzles. Yes, researchers have proven that mental activity forms a strong connection between your brain cells and the way your transmit thoughts, so as you age, you are less likely to develop Alzheimer's. Even more, according to the American Dietetic Association, not only can mental activity reverse damage to your cells, but also with adequate amounts of vegetables and fruits, including blueberries and spinach, age-related losses in motor function and cognition can be reduced.

If you want to see your age grow to high numbers, then you need to make sure the scale shows you the lower ones. From weight training to cardio to yoga, a fusion of activity will keep you feeling young at heart and looking ageless in your jeans. Weight training will help you build muscle, maintain strong bone density, and burn fat. That's right. The more muscle you have, the more fat you will burn. And while pumping weights will keep your muscles strong, cardio will help keep your heart pumping while yoga will keep your body stress-free.

Stress is one of many free radicals, which can cause damage to healthy cells, leading to internal aging as well as visible signs of external aging. Now, just as science has proven how dangerous free radicals are for our cells, antioxidants have proven to defend our cells by fighting against oxidation. Therefore, on the nutrition side of things, choosing antioxidant-rich foods, such as berries, may be one tasty way to living a longer, healthier life. According to the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, cranberries, blackberries and blueberries rank highest in antioxidant levels. In addition to berries, other anti-aging foods include garlic, fish, whole grains, cruciferous vegetables, nuts, soy, water and red wine.

Don't let time pass you by. To stay looking and feeling younger than ever, make sure to exercise regularly, challenge your mind, avoid harmful UV light, and enjoy a low-calorie diet full of anti-aging foods. Start today and by 2008, you'll be ringing in the New Year without having aged a day. Eat your heart out Dick Clark!

What causes yeast infections?

Yeast infection is the commonest in women and mostly affects the vagina. Normally, some amount of yeast and beneficial bacteria are always present in the vaginal area. In yeast infection, the proportion of yeast overtakes that of bacteria through multiplication or via some external source. The increased quantity of yeast (known as, Candida albicans) attacks the lining of the organ, causing swelling, irritation, and a thick discharge from vagina.

What causes yeast infections?

A host of combined or single factors account for yeast infections. Lets look:

Immunity

Like in other conditions, a weakened immune system enhances the possibility of developing yeast infection. Reduced immunity could be due to improper diet, excess physical strain, or external factors, such as the influence of certain medicines, e.g., prednisone.

Hormone Replacement Therapy

Either adopted to reduce menopausal symptoms or as contraceptives, hormones taken as supplements can promote yeast infection.

Medication

Certain strong medicines, particularly the antibiotics, taken to fight lung & throat infections, urinary tract infection (UTI), some skin disorders, either wipe out, or greatly reduce the amount of useful bacteria from the vagina also. These bacteria regulate the pH balance by keeping the vaginal area mildly acidic, which is not conducive for the growth of yeast, Candida. As the antibiotics act towards reducing the bacteria, the safe pH balance of the vagina is disturbed too in the process. The yeast gets the opportunity to thrive and starts affecting the surrounding tissues. Although, antibiotics rank among the lead causes of yeast infection, their prolonged usage aggravates the infectious situation.

Diabetes

Diabetes considerably raises the blood sugar level, providing sustenance to Candida, which feeds on various forms of sugar.

Pregnancy

And associated hormonal changes are responsible for the yeast infection.

Hot and humid weather

Such conditions are ideal for the growth of yeast, especially when coupled with tight and closely woven fabric.

Injury

If the internal vaginal tissues are injured, for instance, in the case of chemotherapy, the possibility of developing yeast infection rises. If any other, external or internal, injury confines you to bed or wheelchair, be extra cautious, as yeast thrives in moist and warm atmosphere.

Toiletries and other products

Products such as certain perfumes, anti-bacterial soaps, bath salts, scented sanitary napkins, certain detergent bases, etc. may also prove instrumental in disturbing the vaginal yeast-bacteria balance. Certain spermicidal, such as, nonoxynol-9, can also create bacterial imbalance.

Personal hygiene

Carelessness in the terms of cleanliness and the upkeep of inner wear can cost dearly, as improperly washed fabric may retain the yeast.

Side Effects of Birth Control Pills

“Birth control pills are pills containing hormones that prevent ovulation and thus pregnancy”.

It is a pill to be taken daily, preferably at the same time to prevent pregnancy. It prevents ovulation and a woman cannot become pregnant if she doesn’t ovulate.

There are three types of birth control pills. They are (1) Mini pill or Progestin- only pill (POP) (2) Combination pill- a combination of estrogen and progestin (3) Emergency pill.

Birth control pills are very effective in preventing pregnancy but they are also reversible because fertility returns if you stop using the pill. It also reduces menstrual cramps and pain and is safe. These pills also prevent heavy menstrual bleeding and thus prevent anemia.

Can You Be Pregnant While On Birth Control Patch

There are so many methods for birth control. You can decide on which method to choose after consulting with your gynecologist.

Some of the birth control methods are; birth control pills, birth control patch (which is changed weekly) and the vaginal rings (which are changed once a month). Cervical barrier methods are also some birth control devices that are affordable and simple to use. The methods involved are latex diaphragm, cervical cap, contraceptive sponge, female condom and Lea’s shield.

Women prefer different types of birth control methods. The birth control patch or the Ortho Evra is a thin plastic patch which is 4 1/2 centimeters square patch which sticks to your skin to prevent you from getting pregnant. This patch releases hormones to your bloodstream through your skin to prevent pregnancy. It is changed once a week for three weeks in a row and then you have a patch free week.

Possibility of pregnancy while on birth control patch:

No birth control product is 100% effective. It depends on your luck and mainly on how you use it. Whichever type of birth control method you are adopting, the most important factor is that you should follow the instructions correctly, because if you make a mistake, it can result in pregnancy. The birth control patch is a popular method of birth control, preferred by many women today. It is 99% effective, but remember, there is still 1% chance for pregnancy if improperly used.

Factors leading to pregnancy while using the patch:

The chance of getting pregnant while using the birth control patch depends on how correctly you use it. 5-8 out of every 100 women have a chance of getting pregnant in a year of using birth control patch. There are many factors which can lead to improper use of this patch and can increase the risk of pregnancy.

(1) You have to change the patch every week. If there is any delay in this weekly change, the patch can lose its effects and cause pregnancy.
(2) Similarly if you miss the weekly change or remove the patch too early, the patch loses its effectiveness.
(3) The contraceptive patch will be less effective to prevent pregnancy for girls or women who weigh more than 198 pounds.
(4) Smoking can also reduce the effectiveness of the patch
(5) Taking certain medications also prevents the patch from working effectively.

The birth control patch has a reversible effect. If you stop using the patch, you will become pregnant.
